Trip Overview

Langtang is a tapering elevated mountain valley between the Himalayas to the north and the slightly lower range of snow peaks to the south. An interesting fact for visitors is that Langtang was officially titled as Nepal’s first Himalayan National Park in 1976 to reserve the pristine flora and fauna and the diverse culture. The park inhabits various endangered animals like the famous red panda, snow leopards and musk deer’s. Amongst the colorful birds are the variety of flinches and warblers in the region including yellow rumped honey guide, lammergeyer and Himalayan Monal Satyr Tragopan.

Langtang is a perfect moderate trek, which is easily accessible from Kathmandu valley, located in the northeast region. It is a fun and casual trek that follows through the western part of Langtang National Park. The park offers a wide range of vegetation from alpine to subtropical meadows.

This is a 7 to 8 day trek that is commonly extended by including a trek to Kyangjin Gompa, which turns the trek into a 14-day adventure. You get to experience all elements of Langtang National Park including Langtang valley and the Gosainkunda. This elevation is the most strenuous of all the hikes in this region and reaches an altitude of 4300 m. The trek is highly recommended for adventurers who are seeking for real Himalayan nomad experience and wonderful natural rewards in Nepal. Langtang Helambu trekkers have varieties of landscape sceneries as well as awe-inspiring mountain views and local cultural traditions. The trekking to this region leads to explore Himalayan alpines and vast diverged mid hill areas of Helambu valley. Langtang Helambu Trek allows encounter with varied cultural inhabitants of this area and their unique life style.
