Trip Overview

Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is one of the easiest trekking trails in Annapurna region. Generally, this is not a major trekking trip but a walking holiday tour in the foothills of the Annapurna’s with alluring Himalayan views. The views you can see from Poon Hill are surely one of the best views in the world with dramatic panoramic profiles of the Himalayan region.

The trekking to Poon hill is a short hike to the Annapurna, which is popular for it’s immense views of Mt. Dhaulagiri range. The trip starts from the beautiful lake city, Pokhara. Throughout the trail, you will cross Tikhedhunga (1,540m), Ghorepani (2,850 m.) and scenic Machhapuchhre and Annapurna Himalaya Range. After viewing the Annapurna panorama from Poon hill we will trek back to Tadapani (2,600m) and Ghandruk (1,940m) villages.

Beside the Annapurna Himalayas panorama, the trek offers to observe typical Gurung culture as we will cross few ethnic communities on the trail and lush Rhododendron forests. All in all, the magnificent peaks of Nepal, as seen from Poon Hill, will leave a lifelong impression on your minds for a lifetime!

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,300m) and transfer to Hotel.

Day 02: In the morning, complete the darshan in Pashupatinath temple and city sightseeing tour to Bodhnath Stupa. Later, in the afternoon visit the streets of Thamel and spend the rest of the day shopping or relaxing.

Day 03: Take a morning flight from Katmandu to Pokhara(850m).

Day 04: After breakfast, early morning transfer to trailhead. Trek Tikhedhunga (1,540m) via Nayapul.

Day 05: Trek Tikhedhunga (1,540m) to Ghorepani (2,850m) that will take approximately 6-7 hours.

Day 06: Early morning trek to Poon Hill (3,210m).

Day 07: Trek Tadapani (2,600m) to Ghandruk (1,940m).

Day 08: Trek Ghandruk (1,940m) to Nayapul (1,070m).

Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 10: Trip concludes and departs for onward journey.

Brief Itinerary

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. Be received by our staff that will help in assisting you to get transferred to the hotel. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu with BB Plan.

After breakfast, city sightseeing tour to Pashupatinath, Bodhnath and Swayambhunath Stupa. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu with BB Plan.

Day 03: Take a morning flight from Katmandu to Pokhara(850m).

After breakfast, drive or fly to Pokhra, sightseeing around the Lake. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhra with BB Plan.

Day 04: After breakfast, early morning transfer to trailhead. Trek Tikhedhunga (1,540m) via Nayapul.

After breakfast, early morning transfer to trailhead. We trek to Nayapul (1070m) and in between stop over for lunch. Hike further to Tikhedhunga (1540m), which takes about 4-5 hours. The trail from Nayapul is smooth that goes through riverbanks and we reach Tikhedhunga. Overnight stay at teahouse or lodge.

Day 05: Trek Tikhedhunga (1,540m) to Ghorepani (2,850m) that will take approximately 6-7 hours.

Today, the trail ascends to many steps of Ulleri, which is a hill top village, and it follows up to Banthanti, our lunch break. After lunch, we will be walking through the mossy jungle to the final stop over Ghorepani.

Day 06: Early morning trek to Poon Hill (3,210m).

Early morning trek to Poon Hill (3210 meters), which is, know for the best sunrises in the world. We then trek to Tadapani (2600 meters) that will take approximately 6 hours. Overnight stay at teahouse or lodge.

Day 07: Trek Tadapani (2,600m) to Ghandruk (1,940m).

Today’s hiking journey will be an easy walk following through the gentle descent of deep forests up to Ghandruk village. Ghandruk village inhabits of Gurung ethnical groups and the residents of the Gorkha soldier family.

Day 08: Trek Ghandruk (1,940m) to Nayapul (1,070m).

From Ghandruk, we trek to Nayapul. The trail is a gradual descent to the final town of Birethanti. You will pass many cultural settlements and their hill terraced traditional farmland. At the final stop, you will be picked by a private transport and driven back to Pokhara.

Day 09: Drive back to Kathmandu.

Travel by surface or take a flight to Kathmandu as per your preference. Transfer to hotel with late noon shopping souvenirs around Thamel market followed by a typical Nepali dinner party with culture show.

Day 10: Trip concludes and departs for onward journey.
