In the secluded northwestern corner of India lies Ladakh, a stunningly jagged kingdom with unforgettable landscapes and red-robed monks spinning their prayer wheels. Trekking along the beautiful valley of Markha River, we take in dramatic views of sweeping massifs, highlighted by green irrigated fields and serene mountain breezes. Amid the whitewashed Stupa (consecrated sites) and Mani walls, Ladakh is indeed an inspirational destination for a unique trekking holiday.
The trekking route passes over willow orchards, together with areas covering wild roses and pastel canyons adorned with multi-hued prayer flags fluttering spiritual messages in the breeze. The occasion to meet nomadic families in the simplicity of their day-to-day life and a visit to a small monastery where butter lamps are lit every morning and evening by an elderly nun leave lasting impressions of our journey through this gloriously enlightened land.
